The CRC FICO Score is a three-digit number that summarizes the information in a Credit Information Report and enables lenders and/or credit grantors make swift decisions on the credit worthiness of loan applicants and buyers of post-paid products.

The CRC FICO Score was developed in collaboration with Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO), an American company with over 50 years of experience in data and analytics.

Over 100 billion FICO Scores have been sold to date in more than 90 countries, making it the most widely used credit score in the world.

The score ranges from 300 to 850, with 300 being the lowest score and 850 the highest. The lower the credit score the higher the level of riskiness or probability that the customer may default in payment.

HOW IS CRC FICO SCORE CALCULATED?

CRC FICO Scores are calculated from data in the Credit Information Report using five parameters. Each of these parameters are assigned weights that sum up the total score:

  • Amount Owed (Outstanding Debt) (30%) – This calculates the outstanding amounts owed in all your accounts - loan accounts & current accounts with debit balance etc. against amount approved.
  • Payment History (35%) – This measures how you have been paying back your loans vis-a-vis the agreed payment terms with the credit grantor.
  • Pursuit of New Credit (10%) – How often you have applied for new credit related facilities over the last two years.
  • Length of Credit History (15%) – A longer credit history with up to date repayments in relation to the other parameters increases your credit score
  • Credit Mix (10%) – Having a mix of credit types (Credit Card, personal loans, mortgages, etc) can improve your credit score.
